Real World Experiences

Michael Hanson has had much experience in his academic research endevors as well as his industry work. Michael has gained invaluable experience which can help any company.

As an intern for the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Texas from May of 2005 to May of 2006, Michael worked on a project to determine the effects of eustatic and tectonic forcing on the development of forearc basin sequence stratigraphy. Under the direction of major researchers, Michael helped to process valuable geophysical seismic data from a project off the coast of Nicaragua. Michael spent the year learning useful, industry-applicable skills in an academic setting.

In December of 2004, Michael worked as a temporary oil and gas regulatory assistant for U.S. Operating, Inc. at their corporate offices in Dallas, Texas. Michael gained experience in the preparation of drilling permits for horizontal re-entry wells all over Texas as well as analysis and modification of survey plats for horizontal drilling permits. In his time there, Michael developed a summary of tank battery modifications to 100 different oil wells in Texas for pending updates to spill prevention control and countermeasures.
